How can you learn to love

When all you see is hate?

If this is all you see

It’s all you know

And love, for you, you really don’t know

How do you believe in yourself

When others constantly put you down?

If this is all you get

It’s all you know

And confidence, for you, you really don’t know

How do you learn to have peace

If all around you is violent?

If this is all you endure

It’s all you know

And peace, for you, you really don’t know

Personalities are shaped by experiences

And if all you experience are bad times

How do you ever know how to turn

Something bad into something good?

Sometimes people can’t change their situations

Because all they know tells them

They never could

  1. *snap, snap, snap* I love it!!! Truth we don’t know, but it possible to find out and be in the know. This poem reminded me of the great late African-American poet, Langston Hughes because of the way it flowed and ended leaving the reader to ponder on what was written.
