Back Burner

Low…medium….hot…. I’m boiling

Danger on the stove

Smoke so thick

You can’t control it

Careful creeping close

Be forewarned of combustion

You plus me

 Equals your self-destruction

As the steam hits your skin

Closer than your next of kin

Separate you by the grain

Like my name was Uncle Ben

At best just a misfit,

General run of the Mill Bisquick

Pancake, spatula

Flipped, it’s over

Ruckus on the stove

Move it to the back burner
